Landmarks of New York was founded by Tommy Silk in March of 2019. The idea had come to him one night over dinner with a family member who argued that Washington D.C. had more history than New York. After walking home and reading a plaque on the side of a non descript townhouse he wondered how many other landmarked buildings existed in New York City. One New York Sightseeing Guide License and trusty map from the Landmarks Preservation Commission later, he decided to try to photograph as many of the 33,000+ landmarked building in New York City and tell their stories on Instagram. While posting them on social media is fun, it’s more fun to share these amazing buildings in person.

Tommy has lived in New York since 2008 and got his degree in History from Fordham University.
